Ways to get started

Sometimes the hardest part of getting started with physical activity, recreation or sport is knowing where to start.

Active Southland offers services and programmes, including Green Prescription, that offer a supportive way to get started, but there are plenty of ways you can take that first step yourself. 


Try an Aquatic Centre

They're not just for swimming; they often offer activities such as aqua jogging, low impact classes or even yoga for beginners.

Try a New Sport

Most sports will welcome you with open arms and offer an encouraging and supportive environment.

Southland is blessed with some fantastic tracks - from short to long distances, you'll find one to enjoy!
