Active Southland is taking a different approach to supporting workplaces.
Due to a range of factors, not least of which has been the changing nature of the workplace environment following the Covid-19 pandemic, the regional sports trust will not be running the Workplace Challenge in 2022.
Events manager Laura Faherty said the event had undergone a number of changes over the years, developing from a purely physical activity-based competition to a more holistic wellbeing event.
“This evolution has been driven by the needs of the business community and now we are seeing businesses really wanting to drive their own wellbeing culture,” Faherty said.
“That’s great to see and we are going to support that by providing a suite of options for businesses to download from the Active Southland website that will allow them to develop their own wellbeing challenges, in their own way.”
“Active Southland would also like to acknowledge the long-running support provided by the event’s major sponsor Vodafone. Jo and the team have not only backed the event financially, but also been really engaged as participants. We would like to thank all the sponsors who have been involved with this event over the years.”
As well as some handy resources on the website, Active Southland provides free Green Prescription and Active Families programmes which can be tailored to support businesses looking to support staff to move more and eat more healthily.
Active Southland also offers special support for businesses taking part in its other major events including the Surf to City and MLT Moonshine Trail and is designing a suite of activations which will make it easier for families to be active.
“We are looking forward to announcing some new events across the province that will support Southlanders to be more active,” Faherty said.
