The Right Prescription Starts with Listening

Morgan Forrester joins the Active Southland Green Prescription team as Physical Activity and Nutrition Advisor, and she’s already busy helping people to improve their health. After completing her Sport and Exercise Degree at the University of Otago, Morgan was happy to be offered the job at Active Southland “It’s a friendly and supportive environment and I felt clicked-in really quickly. Now I’m looking forward to engaging with Green Prescription clients and offering personalised support.”

Morgan has seen both ends of Aotearoa, she has lived in Northland, now Southland, and Central Otago in between. She worked as an intern for Otago Rugby, assisting with events, rugby tournaments, NPC games and then creating reflections documents and reporting back. Now based in Invercargill, Morgan says Queens Park is a spot she likes to run. Sport is her main interest. Following in her Mum’s footsteps she’s a keen hockey player, and has played since she was 3! With trainings and games featuring up to 6 days per week.  Morgan has played regional level hockey and is looking forward to joining a team in Invercargill.

When offering advice that will make a difference, Morgan believes empathy and understanding personal circumstances is important. “I want to see everyone have a fair chance. There are some tough circumstances for people out there. So if I can listen to my clients, help them to control the controllables of activity and nutrition, then we can make a plan to suit. When a client feels better and healthier, that’s what I find rewarding.”
