When Kerryn Douglas saw an advertisement for the Vodafone Workplace Challenge in a Southland Chamber of Commerce e-newsletter, she thought “why not”.
When she suggested the idea of giving the challenge a go to her Pay Check colleagues, they were equally keen, despite all being different ages and fitness levels, and none being overly athletic.
It is the first time any of the four have taken part in the Vodafone Workplace Challenge, but all were eager to give something new a go, and the idea of the wellbeing component of the challenge had appealed, Kerryn said.
Working in a busy and, at times, high stress environment meant that sometimes it was easy for work to overtake thoughts about wellbeing.
While health and wellbeing were always important, it wasn’t always front of mind. Taking part in the Vodafone Workplace Challenge would hopefully help with that, she said.
“I think it will be quite a cool opportunity to do something as a team outside our normal scope. Just to do something that’s a little bit silly, and a little bit fun, is going to be quite cool.”
While there wasn’t anything in particular the team, which includes Kerryn’s 17-year-old son, were hoping to try, they were viewing it as an opportunity to kick start their fitness goals for the summer.
This year’s Challenge runs over 21 days, from October 19 until November 8 and features a wide range of challenges and Have A Go sessions. There are also a huge range of prizes up for grabs, as well as lots of discounts and special offers thanks to our fantastic sponsors.
If trying something new, kickstarting fitness goals, or simply getting to know your team better and having some fun sounds like you, head to https://www.sporty.co.nz/workplacechallenge to register today for the Vodafone Workplace Challenge.
